Reduces Acne, Blackheads & Controls Excess Oil — Every Wash
A daily 2% Salicylic Acid cleanser that reduces acne, blackheads and excessive oil at every wash. Oil-soluble BHA penetrates pores during 60 seconds of contact time, clearing congestion before it rinses away. The foundational first step for oily and acne-prone skin — results visible in 1-2 weeks.
"Controls oil and prevents breakouts. Best salicylic acid face wash I've used. — Zahra" —
Skin Type: Combination, oily, and acne-prone. Also suitable for sensitive-but-oily skin when introduced gradually — see usage note below.
Targets: Breakouts, excess oil, blackheads, closed comedones, and early post-acne dark marks.
Suited to: Ages 15+.
If your skin is oily but easily irritated: Start with once-daily evening use for the first week before introducing a morning wash, rather than jumping straight to twice-daily use.
Patch test recommended if you have:
Do not use on: open wounds, active sunburn, or broken skin.
Consult your doctor before use if: you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Do not use on: open wounds, active sunburn, or broken skin.
Not sure if you need this or the Face Wash instead? Choose this Gel Cleanser if your main concern is active acne, blackheads and oil control. If post-acne dark marks and pigmentation are your bigger concern than active breakouts, the 2% Salicylic Acid Face Wash with Kojic Acid is the better fit — it treats congestion while fading the marks acne leaves behind.
STEP 1
Wet face with lukewarm water. Avoid hot water — it strips the skin barrier and undoes the gentle cleansing this gel formula is built for.
STEP 2
Apply a small amount to damp fingertips — no need to pre-lather. The gel activates on contact with your skin.
STEP 3
Massage in gentle circles across the face for 60 seconds, focusing on the T-zone and areas with active breakouts. This is the minimum contact time for 2% Salicylic Acid to begin penetrating into the pore lining — a quick 10-15 second rinse does not give the active ingredients enough time to work.
STEP 4
Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel. Do not rub — this causes unnecessary friction on freshly cleansed skin.
STEP 5
Apply your next product based on your main concern:
STEP 6
Seal with the Ceramide Moisturiser to lock in hydration and support your barrier while the actives work. In the morning, finish with SPF 50 Sunscreen — non-negotiable, as Salicylic Acid increases sun sensitivity.
When to Use: Morning and evening, every day. New to Salicylic Acid? Start once daily in the evening for the first week, then add the morning wash.
Common mistake to avoid: Using this alongside another exfoliating acid (Glycolic Acid Toner, Retinol) in the same routine without spacing them out. Layering multiple actives at once overwhelms the barrier and causes irritation that feels like the product "isn't working" — when in fact it's working too aggressively. If you use other actives, alternate nights rather than combining them.
Tip: Choose this Gel Cleanser over the Salicylic Acid Face Wash if your main concern is active acne and oil control without significant dark marks — the Azelaic Acid and Zinc PCA in this formula are specifically built for that. If post-acne dark marks are your bigger concern, the Face Wash's Kojic Acid addresses that directly.
SkinFactor's 2% Salicylic Acid Gel Cleanser is an active ingredient treatment in one step. Where a standard cleanser removes surface oil and debris, this salicylic acid cleanser goes further — delivering 2% BHA at the cleansing step, where 60 seconds of contact time allows it to begin loosening the pore blockages that cause blackheads, whiteheads, and recurring acne before rinsing off. It is the starting point for every acne-prone and oily skin routine in Pakistan.
Why 2% salicylic acid in a cleanser produces results:
Salicylic acid is oil-soluble — unlike most cleansing ingredients that sit on the skin surface, it penetrates through sebum into the pore lining. At 2% — the clinically researched concentration for acne treatment — it dissolves the dead cell and oil combination that creates pore blockages from the inside. A standard cleanser cleans the skin surface. A salicylic acid cleanser at 2% cleans the skin surface and begins treating the pore in the same step.
Built for Pakistani skin conditions:
Pakistan's heat and humidity drive excess sebum production year-round — creating exactly the high-oil environment where salicylic acid's oil-solubility makes it most effective. The oilier the environment inside the pore, the more efficiently BHA penetrates and works. For oily, acne-prone skin dealing with Pakistan's climate, a salicylic acid cleanser used consistently morning and evening is the highest-impact single step available at the cleansing stage.
Gel formula — no stripping, no dryness:
The gel base cleanses effectively without the over-stripping that harsh foaming cleansers cause. Over-stripping triggers compensatory oil production — the skin produces more sebum in response to dryness, worsening the congestion the cleanser is supposed to treat. This gel cleanser removes what needs to go while leaving the barrier's lipid structure intact, making it appropriate for daily morning and evening use without the tightness and dryness that SLS-heavy cleansers produce.
As part of a complete routine:
Used alone, this salicylic acid cleanser addresses surface congestion at the cleansing step. Paired with the 2% Salicylic Acid Serum in the evening, it provides both rinse-off treatment at the cleanse and leave-on treatment overnight — addressing pore blockages at two different depths and two different contact times. The Acne Control Kit combines both at a reduced price for the complete two-step approach.
Who it is for:
Oily and acne-prone skin dealing with blackheads, whiteheads, active breakouts, or the congested textured appearance that Pakistan's humidity accelerates. Appropriate for daily morning and evening use from the first week — no adjustment period required for a rinse-off product at 2% concentration. Suitable from age 15 and above.
