A serum is the highest-concentration delivery step in any skincare routine. Unlike cleansers that rinse off and moisturisers that focus on barrier support, serums stay on the skin — giving active ingredients extended contact time to penetrate and work at the level where real change happens. SkinFactor's serum range covers the four primary skin concerns affecting Pakistani skin, each formulated at clinically relevant concentrations rather than cosmetic doses.
For acne and oily skin: the 2% Salicylic Acid Serum is the leave-on BHA treatment that reaches inside the pore lining overnight — the step that produces the most visible results on blackheads, recurring breakouts, and the textural congestion that Pakistan's humidity accelerates.
For pigmentation and dark spots: the 2% Kojic Acid Serum delivers sustained tyrosinase inhibition during the skin's overnight repair cycle — the most effective timing for targeted dark spot fading on post-acne marks, sun damage, and melasma.
For dullness and uneven tone: the 10% Vitamin C Serum provides both antioxidant protection against UV-triggered pigmentation and direct brightening of existing dark spots — applied in the morning when its free-radical-neutralising function is most valuable.
For oiliness, pores, and acne marks: the 10% Niacinamide Serum regulates sebum production, reduces the appearance of enlarged pores, fades post-acne marks, and supports the skin barrier — the most versatile serum in the range and compatible with all of the above.
For dehydration and dry skin: the 2% Hyaluronic Acid Serum provides deep hydration by drawing moisture into the skin and holding it there — applied before heavier creams to maximise absorption.
For fine lines and skin renewal: the Retinol 0.5% Serum accelerates cell turnover and stimulates collagen production — introduced gradually for those addressing early signs of ageing alongside other concerns.
Serums are designed to be layered. Apply water-based serums first, allow each to absorb for 60 seconds, then follow with moisturiser. Not sure which serum matches your concern? Browse by Acne, Pigmentation, or Pores & Oil Control.

Building Your Complete Serum Stack
The most common mistake with serums isn't choosing the wrong one — it's trying to use too many at once. Every serum in this range works, but stacking five of them into one routine on day one is how most people end up with irritated skin and no idea which product caused it. The right approach is building a stack deliberately, one layer at a time, split correctly across morning and evening.
The Complete Morning Stack:
- Vitamin C Serum — antioxidant defence against the day's UV and pollution exposure
- Niacinamide Serum — oil control and pore refinement, safe to layer directly after Vitamin C
- Finish with SPF 50 — this is what makes the morning stack effective; skipping it undermines everything applied before it
The Complete Evening Stack:
- Hyaluronic Acid Serum — applied first, on damp skin, for hydration
- Your treatment serum of choice — Retinol, Salicylic Acid, or Kojic Acid, rotated rather than combined (see below)
- Seal with Ceramide Moisturiser
Retinol, Salicylic Acid and Kojic Acid should never share the same evening — each accelerates skin renewal through a different mechanism, and combining any two significantly increases irritation without adding benefit. If you have concerns that would benefit from more than one of these, rotate them across the week instead: for example Retinol Monday/Thursday, Salicylic Acid Tuesday/Friday, with plain Hyaluronic Acid and moisturiser on the remaining nights.
This is why the phased approach below matters more for serums than for almost any other product category — the goal isn't to use everything at once, it's to build a stack your skin can sustain indefinitely.

Building a Multi-Serum Routine — Phased by Week
Week 1 — One serum only:
- Introduce your primary concern serum alone to establish baseline tolerance
Weeks 2-4 — Add a second, compatible serum:
- Niacinamide or Hyaluronic Acid pair safely with anything and can be added without an adjustment period
Week 5+ — Full AM/PM stack:
- Morning: Vitamin C + Niacinamide. Evening: treatment serum (Retinol, Salicylic Acid, or Kojic Acid) + Hyaluronic Acid
The Mandatory Rules
- Maximum two serums per routine — more increases irritation without proportional benefit
- Never combine Retinol with Salicylic Acid or Vitamin C in the same routine
- Vitamin C is morning-only; Retinol, Salicylic Acid and Kojic Acid are evening-only
- Apply thinnest to thickest — Hyaluronic Acid before heavier treatment serums
- SPF 50 every morning if using any active ingredient
