Best Skincare Routine for Pigmentation in Pakistan (2026)

Best Skincare Routine for Pigmentation in Pakistan

Best Skincare Routine for Pigmentation in Pakistan (2026)

Treating dark spots and pigmentation in Pakistan requires a routine that addresses three separate problems simultaneously: the melanin that has already deposited in visible skin cells, the ongoing melanin production that creates new deposits, and the daily UV exposure that refreshes melanin triggers faster than brightening actives can fade deposits. No single-product approach addresses all three. The routine below covers each problem with the ingredient most effective for it, applied at the time when that ingredient is most productive.

The Four-Mechanism Anti-Pigmentation Approach

Prevent UV-triggered new melanin: SPF 50 every morning. Without this, every other step is partially cancelled by daily UV.

Inhibit tyrosinase — morning: Vitamin C serum before SPF provides antioxidant UV protection and tyrosinase inhibition during the UV-active morning and daytime window.

Inhibit tyrosinase — evening: Kojic acid serum applied overnight provides sustained tyrosinase inhibition during the skin's peak repair cycle, working through the night when UV is absent.

Inhibit melanin transfer: Niacinamide morning and evening reduces how much produced melanin reaches the visible surface layer — covering the step between production and visible deposit that the other ingredients do not address.

Accelerate pigmented cell removal: Glycolic acid exfoliation two to three evenings per week clears hyperpigmented surface cells faster, removing accumulated melanin from the visible skin layer.

Barrier support: Ceramide cream every evening maintains the barrier integrity that sustained multi-active use requires.

Complete Morning Routine

Step 1 — Kojic Acid Face Wash (60 seconds)

Product: Kojic Acid 2% Face Wash

The morning cleanser adds brightening active contact at the cleansing step — five actives including kojic acid, alpha arbutin, niacinamide, licorice extract, and panthenol working during the 60-second wash. Not a replacement for leave-on actives but adds a first daily brightening contact before the serum steps.

Apply to damp skin, massage 60 seconds, rinse with lukewarm water, pat dry.

Step 2 — Vitamin C Serum

Product: 10% Vitamin C Serum

The most important morning brightening step. Applied to clean skin before SPF:

Tyrosinase inhibition during UV exposure: L-Ascorbic Acid at 10% inhibits tyrosinase — blocking the enzyme that UV activates throughout Pakistan's high-UV day. Morning application means vitamin C is present and active during the window when UV triggers are highest.

Antioxidant UV protection: Neutralises the UV-generated free radicals that trigger melanin production. Works alongside SPF — SPF blocks UV, vitamin C neutralises the free radicals from any UV that penetrates the SPF film.

Allow 60 to 90 seconds to absorb fully before the next step.

Step 3 — Niacinamide Serum

Product: 10% Niacinamide Serum

Apply after vitamin C has absorbed. Melanin transfer inhibition — reduces how much melanin produced by UV-activated melanocytes reaches the visible surface layer. The consecutive mechanism to vitamin C's production inhibition.

Also provides daytime oil regulation — relevant for Pakistani skin where excess sebum from heat drives the acne that creates PIH.

Allow 30 to 60 seconds before SPF.

Step 4 — SPF 50 PA+++ (Non-Negotiable Final Step)

Product: SPF 50 Sunscreen PA+++

The step that determines whether every other step works. SPF 50 PA+++ blocks approximately 98% of UVB and provides high UVA protection — reducing the primary daily trigger for both new melanin production and the worsening of existing deposits.

For dark spot treatment in Pakistan: SPF is not supporting the brightening routine. SPF IS the brightening routine's most important component. Without daily SPF 50, the kojic acid, vitamin C, and niacinamide are in a losing battle against continuous UV-triggered melanin production.

Morning routine total: 4 steps.

Complete Evening Routine

Step 1 — Kojic Acid Face Wash (60 seconds)

Evening cleanse removes the day's SPF, pollution, sebum, and environmental debris — the surface layer that accumulated during Pakistan's UV and pollution exposure throughout the day. The kojic acid contact at this step adds the evening's first active brightening dose before the leave-on serum.

Step 2 — Niacinamide Serum

Melanin transfer inhibition continues into the overnight period. Apply after cleansing and before the kojic acid or glycolic acid serum.

Step 3 — Treatment (Rotation Schedule)

Kojic Acid Serum Evenings (4–5 per week) — Primary Treatment: Product: Kojic Acid 2% Serum

The most important treatment step for dark spots. Applied as a leave-on evening serum, kojic acid inhibits tyrosinase through sustained overnight contact — eight or more hours during the skin's peak renewal cycle when hyperpigmented cells are being shed and replaced most actively. The combination of morning vitamin C (daytime tyrosinase inhibition) and evening kojic acid (overnight tyrosinase inhibition) provides continuous 24-hour coverage across both UV-active and UV-inactive periods.

Glycolic Acid Evenings (2–3 per week) — Cell Clearance: Product:  Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner

AHA exfoliation accelerates the shedding of hyperpigmented surface cells — the physical removal mechanism that works alongside the production inhibition of kojic acid and vitamin C. Apply on alternating evenings when kojic acid serum is not used. Improves the speed of overall pigmentation fading by directly clearing the cells containing accumulated melanin deposits.

Step 4 — Ceramide Cream (Mandatory Final Step)

Product: 10% Ceramide Complex Cream Moisturiser

Always the final step. Kojic acid serum and glycolic acid toner both increase skin permeability and temporarily deplete barrier ceramides. Without ceramide repair after every treatment, progressive barrier disruption reduces the skin's tolerance for the treatment routine before full results are achieved.

Results Timeline

Month 1: Marks stop worsening with SPF compliance. Fresh PIH (under three months) begins showing early fading.

Month 2: Visible improvement in fresh PIH. Established marks beginning to lighten. Glycolic exfoliation evenings accelerate texture improvement.

Month 3–4: Significant fading of established PIH. Sun-induced spots showing early improvement with consistent treatment.

Month 6+: Major reduction in overall pigmentation. Old marks substantially faded. Maintenance routine of daily SPF + niacinamide + occasional kojic acid prevents new deposits.

The Bundled Kit Option
