SkinFactor's Vitamin C 2% Gel Cleanser is a multi-active brightening face wash that delivers five skin-evening ingredients at the cleansing step — beginning the brightening routine at the moment skin is cleanest and most receptive, before any serum or treatment product is applied. For Pakistani skin dealing with dullness, dark spots, and uneven tone from UV exposure and post-acne marks, this face wash turns a routine cleansing step into productive brightening treatment twice daily.
Five active ingredients — five brightening mechanisms in one face wash:
Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C 2%):
A stable vitamin C derivative that converts to active ascorbic acid in the skin — inhibiting tyrosinase, providing antioxidant activity, and brightening existing dull surface cells during the 60-second contact time before rinsing. The stable SAP form maintains its activity in the gel formula without the oxidation risk that L-Ascorbic Acid faces in cleansing formulations.
Alpha Arbutin:
A tyrosinase inhibitor that targets melanin production through a complementary pathway to vitamin C — inhibiting the enzyme at a different binding point. Combined with vitamin C, it provides more thorough tyrosinase inhibition than either ingredient achieves alone, even in the brief contact time of a rinse-off product.
Niacinamide:
Inhibits melanin transfer and supports barrier function. At the cleansing step, niacinamide adds the melanin transfer inhibition mechanism that vitamin C and alpha arbutin do not cover — reducing how much produced melanin becomes visible at the skin surface. Also supports the barrier integrity that consistent active ingredient use requires.
Licorice Extract:
A natural brightening and anti-inflammatory active that reduces redness, calms post-acne inflammation, and contributes to overall even tone. Particularly relevant for Pakistani skin where post-acne redness and inflammation from breakouts contribute to the uneven appearance alongside hyperpigmentation.
D-Panthenol (Vitamin B5):
Supports barrier repair and moisture retention during cleansing — counteracting the slight drying effect that active ingredient face washes can cause. Apply a serum or moisturiser immediately after drying to maximise this barrier support and prevent any post-wash tightness.
Why the surfactant base matters:
Many brightening face washes use SLS-based surfactants that strip barrier lipids alongside the excess oil they are cleaning. This formula uses Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate and Coco Glucoside — amino acid-derived and plant-derived gentle surfactants that clean effectively without the lipid stripping that triggers compensatory oil production and worsens sensitivity. The brightening actives work alongside a surfactant system that does not undermine the barrier they are treating.
Morning use for maximum brightening benefit:
Vitamin C's antioxidant function is most valuable in the morning when UV exposure follows. Used as the morning cleanser before the 10% Vitamin C Serum, this face wash delivers a first rinse-off dose before the serum provides the primary leave-on treatment. Together they extend vitamin C coverage across two consecutive steps of the morning routine.
Suitable as an evening cleanser:
Also appropriate for the evening cleanse — removing the day's SPF, pollution, and sebum while delivering brightening active contact before kojic acid or other evening treatments are applied.
How to use — important:
Apply to wet skin. Massage gently for 60 seconds before rinsing — this contact time is when the active ingredients work before washing away. Rinse with lukewarm water. Pat dry and follow immediately with the Vitamin C Serum or a moisturiser. Do not leave skin bare after washing — the active ingredient face wash benefits from an immediate follow-up hydration step to prevent any post-wash tightness.

STEP 1
Apply to wet skin.
STEP 2
Massage gently for 60 seconds before rinsing — this contact time is when Vitamin C, Alpha Arbutin and Niacinamide work before washing away.
STEP 3
Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.
STEP 4
Follow immediately with Vitamin C Serum in the morning, or a moisturiser in the evening. Do not leave skin bare after washing.
When to Use: Morning and evening, every day.
Common mistake to avoid: Rinsing too quickly. A 10-second rinse cleanses without the brightening contribution — the full 60 seconds is what makes this more than a regular cleanser.
